St John Vianney Primary School
Morisset, NSW (2009)
It’s difficult to play handball on sloping concrete.
A school situated on a sloping site causes problems, not just for handball! There’s an uneasiness created that can affect the children and disassociate the internal spaces from the outside areas.
Here we have split the library and then returned the outdoor covered area over tiered seating, effectively biting into and grabbing the site. A sense of ownership and belonging is re-established.
