All Saints College, St Joseph’s Campus
Lochinvar, NSW (2012)
‘In 1883 four young Sisters arrived from Perthville to begin a new congregation. Their first convent was originally an inn. Classes were taught in the Convent.’ — Quote from Sisters of St Joseph of Lochinvar — Heritage
With such a history, the religious and educational complex at Lochinvar is significant to a great number of individuals.
In many ways, the success of any new development on the site depends on demonstrating an appreciation of that history, and yet perhaps acknowledging change as well.
The robust forms of the original chapel and school buildings aptly reflect the resolve of the congregation.
The new structures employ powerful forms and imagery as a fitting place for the safe-keeping of memories and tradition.
